Dear Friends,

What a privilege it is to invite you to the 2017 expanded Speak Up Conference! For more than two decades many of you have attended either the Original and/or the Advanced Speak Up with Confidence Seminars, and you have asked, “What’s next?”

We made a major change during the past five years and we combined the best of the Original and the Advanced Speak Up Seminars into a single speaking track. We also added a writing track. Since the conference is hosted in Grand Rapids, Michigan where there are many Christian publishers, we are now offering those of you who have ideas for an article, a book, or a blog to meet with writing professionals.  You will have opportunities for one-on-one appointments with publishers, editors, and author mentors.

When you register, you will select one of the two tracks. There will be a few general sessions that all participants will attend, along with six breakout sessions.  The breakouts will offer six different topics—two on writing, two on speaking, and two that are of interest to both writers and speakers. Yes, you can select a session outside of your designated track.  We want you to prayerfully consider what you most need in this conference.  If you’ve attended in the past, you’ll discover we have many new breakout sessions offered each year.

Don Piper

The gifted New York Times bestselling author of 90 Minutes in Heaven, Don Piper, will be our keynote speaker. There will be extraordinary worship led by Sarah Schieber in our general sessions.  We have also added an option for you to register your spouse or travelling companion for the general sessions, the on-site meals, and the dinner concert if he/she is accompanying you to the conference.

This equipping event will be held on the campus of Calvin College at The Prince Center, a state-of-the-art conference center in Grand Rapids, Michigan. There are guest rooms available at The Prince Center, along with free airport shuttle service. The rooms at The Prince Center will go quickly, so register for lodging early.

One of my favorite evaluations from a past participant is: “I thought I was registering for a Christian equipping conference, but beyond the extraordinary training, my heart was revived and encouraged. This conference more than met my expectations and it has revolutionized the way I do ministry.”

If you are an alumnus of the Speak Up Conference, we are offering a $100 discount on your registration fee. Also, if you have never attended in the past and need financial assistance, a limited number of partial scholarships are available. For the promo code for the alumni discount or for scholarship information, please email Bonnie Emmorey.

I’m praying for you as you consider attending and I hope to see you there!

Blessings,

Carol Kent
