Get To Know Jeri

Jeri Howe is a speaker, author and pastor. Jeri’s biblically based messages have been providing life-changing insights to audiences for years. She has written a few Bible studies and self-published a medieval fantasy novel, Kamea, that communicates the truths of our identity in Christ. She even dabbled in radio for a while. Jeri is presently being trained as a spiritual director. She recently earned her Master of Divinity degree and is serving as a teaching pastor at Lakeshore Vineyard Church in West Michigan. Jeri is married to Jason, and they have two adult kids who are both married, and the whole family loves to celebrate anything and everything with lots of food and fun!

Jeri has two main passions. The first is to help everyone come to know the love of God that proclaims, “You are precious, you matter, you belong with me…” Jeri worked for years to prove her worth, but it was never enough. Jesus has been delivering her from these cycles of struggle, and now she loves sharing God’s freeing truth in her talk: “No Matter What, You Matter Now”. Learn more at jerihowe.com.

Jeri’s second passion is to affirm, encourage and equip Christian leaders. Several years ago Jeri struggled with burnout and almost dropped out of ministry. But Jesus met her in surprising ways, caring for her and bringing healing and freedom. And so now Jeri is offering resources and retreats to help other leaders not only survive but flourish so that, instead of dropping out – or fading out slowly – they continue to grow and experience God’s love, joy and peace in their own lives. You can check out the theleaderproject.net to see what she has to offer including her twenty-six “sometimes counter-cultural, sometimes counter-intuitive, always thought-provoking” leadership concepts. Each one is inspired by New Testament Scriptures that teach and model how to live and how to lead.

Breakout Session

Arise, Shine: What to do when it is not going well.

So, in 2019 I was leading a team of Bible Study leaders in our local jail, my novella and accompanying Bible Study was finally helping people and I was on staff at a church and felt like I was finally in the zone. And then COVID hit and that all went away… and then more losses came. My mom was diagnosed with cancer and, after a costly battle, passed away. At one point I faced my own overwhelming medical challenges, and I remember asking God, “Why did you take me this far only to throw me in the trash?” Through it all I could not be angry at Him as if He had abandoned me, because He was always there. Fast forward to today. I am now going through a season of fruitfulness I thought I would never see again… but the funny thing is, it was about 3 years ago, when nothing seemed hopeful, that God spoke to my heart my words of the year, “Arise, shine” and only now do I feel like it is happening. You may be in the valley of the shadow right now, but God is speaking “Arise, Shine. Rise up, little one. Morning is coming… and I am the God who raises the dead.” Come for encouragement and some ideas what to do in the space you find yourself today, when it is not going well.
