Breakout Session
Write From Your Scars, Not Your Wounds
Every writer has a story, but not every story is ready to be published. Our stories have the power to inspire, encourage, and point people to Jesus, but only if they’re shared from a place of healing and not from open wounds.
Drawing from over twenty-five years as a therapist, personal experience, and the story of the woman Jesus straightened in Luke 13, this breakout explores the intersection of theology, emotional health and storytelling.
Participants will learn to distinguish writing from a wound vs writing from a scar, set healthy boundaries, and steward their stories to offer hope, point people to Jesus and invite deeper connection with their audiences.
This breakout invites participants to a deeper exploration of their own story. It will integrate quiet times of reflection, writing, and assessment.
15-Minute Appointments
Not all stories are ready for the page or the stage, so how do you know if you’re writing from a wound or a scar? Bring a story you’re wondering about, and together we’ll explore three therapy-based questions to discern readiness, so your story can glorify God, serve others well and point people to the restoring work of Jesus.
And Nicole is also available to share insights on navigating both traditional and independent publishing.
