Get To Know Shellie
Shellie Arnold is an author and speaker whose passion is helping marriages flourish. As a kid from a broken home, at age fourteen she decided she would never marry. As a trauma and sexual abuse survivor, this decision seemed safe and wise. When she was fifteen and God began growing a friendship with a young man into something more, not only was she skeptical, she was scared. And when that young man voiced his determination to marry her, she was petrified. God spent three and a half years convincing Shellie to marry. She determined to be obedient to follow his leading on one condition: that God stay with her and teach her in every day of her marriage. Despite extreme challenges and multiple levels of trauma she and her husband have both had to address, in 2026 Shellie will celebrate forty years of marriage. She calls her marriage “a million miracles” and loves sharing all God continues to teach her. Find her marriage-focused content at www.shelliearnold.com.
Shellie attended her first Christian writers conference in January 1994. Over the years she’s seen the industry change, creating new challenges and possibilities for authors. When God led her to start a publishing company in 2022, she knew the approach would be different than most she had seen. As God opened doors, he revealed a business plan combining the best aspects of traditional and self-publishing options with Shellie’s unique perspective on critique and editing. She enjoys offering a personalized, hands-on approach, thinking outside the box, and working with authors who feel they don’t fit the common industry mold.
Shellie is offering a pre-conference option Deep Dive Manuscript Review for those who want to polish their work before the conference. This option can be found under the Attendees Resources/In-Person Extras tab.
Pre-Conference Session
Pre-Conference Opportunity — Deep Dive Manuscript Review ($100)
Hey there, Speak UP attendees. I’m Shellie Arnold, an author, speaker, editor, and book doctor. I’ve written, critiqued, and edited fiction and nonfiction projects, including the memoir Five Tickets to Kansas, which won the Selah in 2023. I love helping new and experienced writers with their writing projects as they pursue God’s calling on their lives.
As conference attendees, you have a unique opportunity to work with me before the conference if you’d like to:
- Polish a book proposal to insure it’s complete
- Refine your pitch so it’s clear, concise, and accurate to your message
- Critique your work in progress to determine if you’re really saying what you want to say
- Nail down your brand, focus, or heart message
- Seek input to discover your strengths and weaknesses, and receive direction on how to capitalize on your strengths
- Brainstorm about ways to expand your audience without sacrificing your niche or core message
- Fine tune your title, subtitle, and back cover blurb
- Begin any of the above—even if you don’t know how and you’re kind of freaked out about it
Basically, we can talk about whatever you need to talk about. This is a pre-conference option available to the first twenty who sign up, and there is an associated fee.
I look forward to working with you!
